Well, this is straight fire from Sword Beach.
Dowsing and Ratboys are both from Chicago, good friends, and also share a band member. This split release features two tracks from each band and will be released to coincide with them touring the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom together from September 9th through October 30th.

Now, not being the biggest Phish fan in the world, I read and scoffed as I always do, thinking about this band that I used to dig - yet fell distantly apart from solely because I stand by the fact that their lyrics are nonsense. Racking my brain, it came to me - "He's right...who gives a fuck about what someone else loves, so long as it doesn't hurt anybody." I listened to a few tunes and kept going.
I came to a supreme conclusion that I really only like this band when they cover songs. And boy can they cover the shit out of The Talking Heads, The Beatles, and Little Feat - three of MY all time faves. But I digress - the point of this rant is to babble about something that I fucking love - and I don't care what you think about it. To Phish and all my Phish loving pals (i'm not going to call you "phriends" for christ sakes) - I'm sorry for being such a dick. I've seen you live too many times to count because you were a good time - and yet I still said you suck.
So naturally, here I am writing about something I have grown passionate about on the eve of a high school and college friend that I grew up with dropping a new, old school country album. The point of this entire article is to proclaim my flat out love for outlaw country music.
I love it.
I don't care if you hate it or hate me - I'm not ashamed and you shouldn't be either. Love what feels right and you should be on the road to easy street. To quote the great fictional head coach Bobby Finstock from "Teen Wolf:" "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese." Well, add to that you shouldn't be ashamed to like what feels good to you, so long as it's not hurting folks. Example: Loving a politician and shoving it in peoples faces. That politician can change the world and effect big things. My love for Waylon Jennings ain't gonna change shit except my mood.
If you're like me, you'll love it. If not, we're still cream cheese.
Stay cool listeners, and keep loving music no matter what.
